“LUNCH BOX FOR KIDS” TO NOURISH BODIES, MINDS & SPIRITS

Food Drive To Be Held Saturday, May 31
Minneapolis (May 14, 2008) --- With no school lunch programs and lower food bank donations, the summer can be a difficult time for families in need. Hope for the City and Walser Automotive Group are teaming up with other community-minded business to provide the Lunch Box For Kids program to help. Lunch Box For Kids will not only nourish the body, but the mind and spirit as well.
A custom-made “lunch box” will be filled with enough non-perishable food to feed two children nutritious servings of breakfast and lunch, plus snacks for one week. Also included in each box will be a summer fitness plan and a book to read. Hope for the City will distribute the filled boxes through their over 80 metro area non-profit partners.
The public is encouraged to donate non-perishable items to the project. Donations will be accepted on Saturday, May 31, 2008 from 9am to 12 noon at the following locations:

In 2007, Hope for the City distributed 1,500 lunch boxes through three organizations that reached large populations of people including Southern Anoka County Assistance, Keystone Community Services
(St. Paul), and Central Chicano (Minneapolis).
Hope for the City is a privately funded, 501(c) 3 relief organization that was established in 2000 to fight poverty, hunger and disease by utilizing corporate surplus. The Minnesota-based, non-profit organization collects overstock products from top retailers, medical companies, and food distributors nationwide and donates the items to people in need locally, across the country and around the world. Since its inception, Hope for the City has donated approximately $400 million in wholesale value of goods.
